We staan aan de vooravond van een revolutionaire ontwikkeling: we krijgen het gereedschap in handen om nieuwe materialen op maat te maken. Met uiterst krachtige microscopen kunnen we individuele atomen zien, manipuleren én controleren. We kunnen de eigenschappen van zelfbedachte materialen in de computer berekenen, zodat we ultieme functionele materialen kunnen ontwerpen.
