Future smart industry technologies in an enabling ecosystem

As the world shifts towards a more responsible and sustainable future, and to face competitiveness, environmental and societal sustainability requirements, industry must also evolve beyond digitization (smart industry or Industry 4.0) towards a more resilient, green and human-centered approach of Industry 5.0 —a paradigm characterized by the integration of advanced digital technologies, artificial intelligence, human-centric approaches and focus on sustainability. Yet, this shift is not easy as promising technologies need to be identified and their implications better understood to support the sector and supporting ecosystem in making a choice towards I5.0.
The overall aim of this project is to explore promising smart industry technologies for the Dutch Smart Industry ecosystem towards Industry 5.0. We will focus specifically on autonomous technologies, which provide solutions for societal challenges and a more human centric approach.
