The field of regenerative medicine has seen many significant technological advancements and financial boosts over the pasts decades. But while we are moving forward, the Dutch regenerative medicine ecosystem remains fragmented.
Regenerative medicine is driven by interdisciplinary research in which technological advancements play a crucial role. The developments in regenerative medicine do not exist in isolation but must be understood within the context of the vast technological advancements occurring in conjunction with other disciplines (such as electro physics, bioelectronics, data & AI and medicine). A broad study of possible future technological developments in regenerative medicine will help us to define a joint vision and will be a starting point for the route to build on a more cohesive national landscape. In the current project, the route management of the NWA-route regenerative medicine, various academic experts and the Stichting Toekomstbeeld der Techniek will gather their networks and collaborate on reaching this goal. We will organize workshops and do desk research to map technological, scientific and societal developments and write all results into a national strategy for the field of regenerative medicine. This rapport can be the basis of not only route activities, but also national funding and policy agendas.
