Sustainable alternative energy is required in large amount if we want to effectively decrease our emissions. Technical solutions to power ships with such energy exist which would, when implemented, have a significant positive impact on human activity emissions. The sea is likely to provide sufficient space for renewable energy production in the coming decades. With an offshore production growing significantly offshore, as well as offshore storage, an efficient and robust logistics to bring this energy towards mainland will be necessary.
The requirements of such logistic chain will depend on the volume of the energy production, the type of energy carriers and the storage capacity of the hub. Without forgetting the storage capacity on land for the energy supplied. Based on such development, the questions will rise about the type of transport that should be anticipated, the type of ships, the size of the fleet and the transport capacity.
The objective of this project is to explore different scenarios of the logistics to transport sustainable energy from its offshore production and storage location towards its supply on mainland.
