In response to the growing demand for sustainable and efficient transportation, integrating freight and passenger services offers a promising solution, especially within the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) framework. Traditional transportation systems often prioritize passengers over freight, leading to inefficiencies and delays in freight deliveries. However, combining both in one system can optimize capacity utilization, reduce traffic, and alleviate the driver shortage in logistics. All in all, this integration can aid to improve the environmental impact of mobility. Despite the potential benefits, practical implementations of integrated transport services remain limited for several reasons including the segregation of sectors. This project answers this fundamental question in a holistic manner: Should the design of an integrated transport system prioritize passengers or freight, or should it strive for a balanced approach that considers both? It employs a multidisciplinary approach to exploration of its qualitative and quantitative aspects, thus providing policymakers with insights and tools that support them in making informed decisions about the design and implementation of such systems, ensuring a balanced, efficient, and sustainable transport service.
