The project explores how AI can be ethically, sustainably, and creatively integrated into filmmaking. With platforms like TikTok influencing youth perception, cinema's relevance grows as a repository of knowledge on how we process reality through audiovisual means. Recognising AI's revolutionary impact on cinema, the project examines AI from an epistemic perspective, investigating new ways of knowing it enables in filmmaking. By addressing challenges such as biases, loss of artistic agency, and environmental concerns, the project focuses on how AI can enhance creativity while preserving human agency, and examines AI's potential to reshape cultural heritage and education.
Central to this effort is the creation of the "AI Almanac," a practical guide for responsible AI integration, and public “AI Sandbox” events where professionals and the public will be given an opportunity to experiment with AI tools, and workshop alternative forms of engagement with this technology.
Led by artist-researchers, the project emphasizes innovation guided by artistic integrity and ethical considerations. Named "Greenhouse," it emphasizes care, self-growth, renewal, and sustainability, creating a collaborative ecosystem where ideas flourish naturally. By focusing on responsible innovation, cultural preservation, and sustainable AI practices, we seek to make a lasting societal impact while maintaining human-centred approaches in filmmaking.
