Resource efficiency in food production systems and in consumer households.

Sensoring salt water aquaponics:
Worldwide, less and less land is available for agriculture due to salinization. As a result, crops will no longer grow in the salt-affected areas leading to problems in feeding the growing world population. In this project will we work on a novel saline food production system to produce circular proteins and vegetables.

The role of plastic packaging in the occurrence of food waste at home:
Use of disposable plastic packaging is claimed to lengthen the shelf life of fresh fruits and vegetables. However, consumer storage practices in daily life settings might influence this shelf life. This study aims to understand how plastic packaging is actually used and contributes to (the prevention of) food waste.
