Joint solutions for multiple environmental crises

It is increasingly recognized that the current biodiversity crisis, nitrogen crisis and climate crisis should not be addressed in isolation. Instead, new approaches should lead to joint, synergistical solutions, which are the focus of this proposal. This proposal focusses on exploring two key subthemes within this general theme of 'joint solutions to multiple environmental crises': 1) new change theory and 2) new change indicators. Specifically, subproject 1 will focus on quantifying affect (the underlying experiences of feeling, emotion, mood) of stakeholders in relation to transformative change while subproject 2 will focus on quantifying trophic links through DNA-barcoding. Both have strong societal embedding as there will be co-designing of strategies between farmers, their land and societal, private and policy actors (subproject 1) and the use of citizen science (subproject 2).
